Let’s Talk About Egg Freezing…

What is Egg Freezing?

Egg Freezing puts you in charge of your biological clock and keeps you in control of your life’s direction.
For many women, freezing their eggs can be liberating and offers peace of mind about whether or not they will have children by the end of their reproductive timeline.

Free yourself from nature’s countdown. Egg freezing keeps the door open!

Sooo…

When is it
Time to Freeze?

Baby? Well Maybe…

IN THE FUTURE, BUT NOT NOW…

There are many reasons women may consider freezing their eggs due to where life is “today”. Some may want to focus on careers and personal goals, while others may feel that they haven’t found the right relationship for children yet. Take the pressure off, enjoy life and know you have a plan.

YOUR AGE AND EGG SUPPLY

You are born with a finite number of eggs that can be fertilized:
a reserve that decreases rapidly over time.

Why is it important to know my AMH?

AMH Test

When it comes to egg freezing, AMH (Anti Mullerian Hormone) can become a better guide than age alone.
Your AMH level is what actually helps fertility specialists determine the number of eggs a woman has, regardless of age. A low level of AMH is an indicator of Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR), a slowing down of the ovaries, decreasing the quantity of eggs.

Egg freezing will not lower your remaining egg count. It will maximize the use of the eggs you currently have left.

SHOULD I HAVE MY AMH LEVEL CHECKED?

Nothing can predict fertility potential 100%, but an AMH test is a great indicator. AMH can be tested at any point during a woman’s menstrual cycle and only requires a quick blood draw. Low AMH in younger women can signal an early loss of fertility, one reason egg freezing may be right for you.

Unpredictable
Circumstances

Currently, one of the biggest reasons why a woman chooses to freeze her eggs is due to cancer. Treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation can inflict serious damage on a woman’s eggs and can result in infertility. The ability to preserve a woman’s fertility through this difficult time varies on her age, her type of cancer, and the treatments she will undergo. Sometimes viable eggs will still be present after treatment.

However, freezing fertilized embryos before treatment remains the most successful approach to having babies after cancer. With consent from her oncologist, depending on the type of cancer present, a woman may have a chance to freeze her eggs before beginning treatment.
